Product Description
304L low carbon stainless steel coil is the low carbon variant of 304, developed to suppress carbide precipitation during welding so that intergranular corrosion resistance is preserved in the heat affected zone. This makes it the preferred coil grade for fabricated tanks, pipe spools, and welded assemblies that cannot be post weld annealed. Aside from the lower carbon content, the alloy keeps the same chromium and nickel balance and therefore the same excellent corrosion resistance and formability as standard 304.
The coil is cold rolled and annealed to a bright 2B finish and can be supplied with protective film for handling protection. Because the material welds cleanly with MIG, TIG, and resistance processes, fabricators can build large vessels with confidence that welded joints will resist corrosion in service. 304L low carbon stainless steel coil is a dependable choice wherever welded fabrication and long term corrosion performance must go together.
Key Features- Low Carbon Composition: Reduced carbon suppresses carbide precipitation and protects weld corrosion resistance.
- Superior Weldability: Welds reliably with MIG, TIG, and resistance processes without post weld annealing.
- Strong Corrosion Resistance: Retains the chromium nickel balance that resists rust and chemical attack.
- Good Formability: Supports bending, rolling, and drawing during vessel and spool fabrication.
- Bright 2B Finish: Smooth surface suits cleaning, polishing, and protective film application.
- Reliable Supply: Regular production and stock support consistent lead times for fabrication projects.

304L low carbon stainless steel coil is used for welded tanks, pressure vessels, pipe spools, chemical equipment, food processing vessels, heat exchanger shells, and structural fabrications. It also suits any welded assembly that must keep its corrosion resistance after fabrication.
How It WorksThe low carbon austenitic melt is cast and hot rolled, then cold rolled and annealed to a soft, weldable condition. Because carbon is kept very low, chromium carbides do not form along the grain boundaries during welding, so the material keeps its resistance to intergranular corrosion at the welded joint.
Packaging & Quality AssuranceCoils are film wrapped and packed on export seaworthy wooden pallets secured with steel straps. Each shipment carries a mill test certificate confirming chemistry and mechanical properties, and third party inspection and custom documentation can be arranged for welded fabrication projects.
